SIMPLESURANCE DEVELOPS INSURANCES POLICIES WITH MUNICH RE

Simplesurance announces a cooperation with Munich Re, a globally leading player in the reinsurance sector. In the future, the two companies will jointly offer insurance policies for private clients. Simplesurance will take on sales and the claims handling and Great Lakes, a subsidiary of Munich Re, will cover insurance risks.

So far, simplesurance has operated as a broker and has worked together with insurance companies such as Allianz, Ergo Direkt, R+V, Arag and the US company Assurant. “Through the cooperation with Munich Re we can develop insurance policies ourselves for the first time”, says Robin von Hein, founder and CEO of simplesurance. He specifies that “at the end of the year, latest in the first quarter of 2017, we would like to bring the first policy to market”.

For Munich Re, it is not the first cooperation with a start-up. This year, the company has agreed to cooperate with Slice Labs, a US start-up that offers short time insurance policies, for example for Uber drivers. With this, reinsurer Munich Re reacts to changes in the insurance market.

Simplesurance was founded in Berlin in 2012 and distributes insurance policies in 28 countries and more than 1,500 online shops. The simplesurance solutions enable the cross-selling of product insurances directly at the point of sale in e-commerce stores.
