GROUPON AND RECORRIDO AMONG THE TOP 25 E-COMMERCE BUSINESSES IN CHILE
Groupon and Recorrido, both Mountain Partners Portfolio Companies, are among the top 25 e-commerce businesses in Chile.
Groupon is third among the companies with the most orders, while at the same time Recorrido occupies the 16th place. Furthermore, Groupon is among the 10 most visited websites in Chile. The data collection company Netquest, through its Netrica service – the data provider of the Chamber of Commerce of Santiago (CCS) – exclusively delivered the study to the Chilean newspaper La Tercera. The study divides the sector into two categories and shows each a ranking of the channels with the most orders and one of the most visited web pages.
Groupon is the global market leader in local commerce and offers a platform where you can buy anything you need at any time. Groupon redefines how small businesses can attract, retain, and interact with customers by offering Groupon merchants with a range of products and services, including customizable deal campaigns, to help drive the growth and efficiency of businesses. Groupon’s goal is to link the local trade with the increase in consumer purchasing power, which leads to increased local sales.
Recorrido was founded in 2014 by a group of entrepreneurs from Germany, who first discovered the market potential of the segment during their backpacking tour through Chile in 2013 when they faced difficulties in buying their bus tickets through the internet. In 2015, one year after its foundation, the company already counted one million unique users. With 10 million users and more than 700’000 tickets sold until July 2017, recorrido established itself as the primary online solution for buying bus tickets in Chile and Argentina.
